NEW TrailFX Pre-Runner Bumper Brings Style & Agility to Your Off-Roader

TrailFX has grown as a brand that truly serves the needs of all builders. Balancing product quality with competitive pricing, you just can’t beat what this company brings to the table. This is especially true if you’re a truck owner contending with high vehicle costs, often leaving a tight budget for aftermarket upgrades. Exactly why it’s always exciting news for truck enthusiasts whenever TrailFX offerings expand—and expand they have! The 2020 catalog is full of fresh product, including the rugged new pre-runner bumper.

In a crowded segment of aftermarket bumpers—especially ultra-capable heavy-duty options—you may be wondering: Why opt for a pre-runner? While both bumpers offer a signature look that can ultimately drive popularity and sales, choosing one over the other largely comes down to function.

A Modern Approach to Bumper Design

“The new TrailFX PreRunner Bumper was created to provide customers with a bumper that offers aggressive style and added function,” explains Ryan Osborne, TrailFX Product Manager. “This bumper doesn’t weigh down the front-end, yet still offers protection against potential hazards.”

Think about it: Heavy-duty bumpers are, well, heavy duty. Great for utility trucks and off-roaders that see harsh environments and hard work, they sport beefy constructions of weighty materials. This means they can add quite a few pounds over factory equipment.

While pre-runner bumpers are also constructed with better-than-factory materials (sometimes leading to more weight), they are designed to be a lightweight option that will improve approach angles. “TrailFX pre-runner bumpers are constructed from durable 1.5” steel tubing, steel materials, and top-grade hardware to ensure proper fastening,” says Osborne. “They’re precision-welded and finished with a titanium black powder coat to offer extra durability and protection against the elements.”

TFX PreRunner Bumper Toyota Tacoma application

Another great selling point of the new TrailFX pre-runner bumper is its one-piece, direct-fit design. Not only does this add strength, but it also makes for an easier installation. Even better, the unit is bolt-on and uses existing factory mounting points.

Stylish & Functional

Let’s face it, much of the reason to use an aftermarket bumper is for the ability to customize it, both with easily mounted accessories and complementary upgrades. And while the new TrailFX pre-runner bumper may be smaller than its HD siblings, that doesn’t mean it’s limited in any way.

First, both the front bumper and its matching rear are compatible with OE distance sensors. Additionally, the front is available with or without a grille guard and D-ring mounts. It can also accommodate up to a 12,000-lb winch.

“The included skid plate and LED mounting options also provide consumers with extra protection and optional visibility options for their adventures,” explains Osbourne. “The front bumpers easily accept an optional LED Light Bar, and LED Flush Mount Cubes fit into the rear bumper cutouts. Adding a TrailFX lift kit or leveling kit and a tire/wheel package of choice would be the ideal bundle to take on the dirt or the pavement. Perhaps in future models we could incorporate other ‘goodies’ for our customers to enjoy, as well.”
